Mission Statement:
My drive stems from a desire to understand the intricate complexities of biological mechanisms. In an age where computational power, mathematics, and biotechnology have reached unprecedented heights, I am eager to contribute to the next wave of biotechnological breakthroughs, powered by the emerging abundance of high-throughput technologies and community-based projects. Nothing is impossible with optimism and a world-class team.
About Me:
Over the last six years, I’ve had the opportunity to truly discover my passions through academia, work, and self-study.
During my senior year of undergraduate school, I had a constructive career meeting with a peer mentor where I began to unravel the age-old question, what do I want to do with my life? Learning how to program and becoming vastly interested in my biotechnology courses led me to the answer; I wanted to apply modeling to biotechnology, but to be honest, I wasn’t sure what this would look like in a commercialized environment. Becoming a Process Characterization Engineer at Regeneron was the first step to understanding my ambitions. As a Process Characterization Engineer, I worked on proteomics investigations, intracellular metabolic modeling, creating dashboards, streamlining data analysis, and a variety of wet-lab skills: bioreactor operations, qPCR, Mass Spectrometry, and general aseptic techniques for CHO cell culturing.
My programming skills, particularly in Python, are a product of four years of dedicated learning and practice across various languages. Complementing these technical skills are my strong capabilities in mathematics and statistics, developed through rigorous self-study in textbooks, online courses, and a deep engagement with machine learning and artificial intelligence. These skills are not just theoretical; they have been actively applied and tested in real-world scenarios, as demonstrated in the portfolio projects.
Outside of my professional career, I enjoy snowboarding, playing guitar, boxing, strength training, and running. Balance is key to keeping a creative and productive mind.
What Sets Me Apart?
At its core, my greatest attributes are persistence and optimism. For me, it’s not a matter of if something will happen — it’s a matter of when it’ll happen. If I’m interested, and it’s on this earth, there’s no reason I can’t do it eventually.
What’s My Biggest Weakness?
My biggest challenge is managing anxiety during difficult times. When I don’t get the results I’m hoping for, it can make me feel anxious. I’ve found that the best way to handle this is by taking breaks from mentally demanding tasks, then returning with a patient, focused mindset. I’ve learned that slowing down and thoroughly grasping the basics of any subject is far more effective than rushing through and only scratching the surface. By building a strong foundation first, I can approach advanced or challenging problems with confidence and clarity.
